Special Event Types

Training Event Type

In module settings, you can designate one event type as the “Training Event Type”:
  • Events of this type are tracked for training statistics
  • May integrate with the Courses module
  • Appears in training-specific reports

General Meeting Event Type

Similarly, you can designate a “General Meeting Event Type”:
  • Used for formal organizational meetings
  • May have special attendance tracking
  • Appears in governance reports
Configure these in SettingsEventsModule Settings.

Using Event Types

When Creating Events

Select the event type from the dropdown when creating a new event. This categorizes the event immediately.

Filtering Events

On the events list:
  • Use the type filter to show only specific categories
  • Combine with date and status filters

In Reports

Event reports can be filtered and grouped by type:
  • See how many events of each type you held
  • Track attendance patterns per type
  • Compare engagement across categories

Best Practices

5-10 event types is usually enough. Too many types create confusion. Think categories, not individual events.
Choose clear, self-explanatory names. “Team Meeting” is better than “Type A”.
Use colors that are visually distinct. This helps in calendar views where events are color-coded.
Use the description field to explain what qualifies as each type, so event creators categorize consistently.

Managing Event Types

Editing Types

You can edit event types at any time. Changes affect:
  • How the type appears in dropdowns
  • Display in event listings
  • Future reports
Existing events keep their assigned type.

Deleting Types

Before deleting an event type:
  • Reassign events to another type, or
  • Events will show “Uncategorized”
Deleting a type that’s set as Training or General Meeting type will clear that setting.
