Event types help you:- Organize events - Filter event lists by type
- Generate reports - See statistics per event type
- Set defaults - Auto-select types for specific workflows
- Communicate clearly - Members know what kind of event they’re registering for
Creating Event Types

Navigate to Event Types
Go to Settings → Events → Event Types

Click Create
Click the “Create Event Type” button

Configure the type
Set name, description, and options

Save
Save the new event type
Event Type Settings
The display name for this event type (e.g., “Workshop”, “General Assembly”).
Optional description explaining what kind of events belong in this category.
Accent color for events of this type. Helps visually distinguish types in calendars and lists.
Icon to display alongside the event type name.
Common Event Types

Special Event Types
Training Event Type
In module settings, you can designate one event type as the “Training Event Type”:- Events of this type are tracked for training statistics
- May integrate with the Courses module
- Appears in training-specific reports
General Meeting Event Type
Similarly, you can designate a “General Meeting Event Type”:- Used for formal organizational meetings
- May have special attendance tracking
- Appears in governance reports
Using Event Types
When Creating Events
Select the event type from the dropdown when creating a new event. This categorizes the event immediately.Filtering Events
On the events list:- Use the type filter to show only specific categories
- Combine with date and status filters
In Reports
Event reports can be filtered and grouped by type:- See how many events of each type you held
- Track attendance patterns per type
- Compare engagement across categories
Best Practices
Keep types broad
Keep types broad
5-10 event types is usually enough. Too many types create confusion. Think categories, not individual events.
Use consistent naming

Choose clear, self-explanatory names. “Team Meeting” is better than “Type A”.

Use colors that are visually distinct. This helps in calendar views where events are color-coded.

You can edit event types at any time. Changes affect:- How the type appears in dropdowns
- Display in event listings
- Future reports
Deleting Types
Before deleting an event type:- Reassign events to another type, or
- Events will show “Uncategorized”
